Common Issues and Frequently Asked Questions
What payment processors are available on Payhip?
We support multiple payment processors, depending on your business location.
Stripe and PayPal are available as connection options across all supported business locations. You only need to connect at least one payment processor to start selling on Payhip.
Additional payment gateways such as Mollie, Square, Mercado Pago, Flutterwave, Paystack, Xendit, Midtrans, PayU, Razorpay, Iyzico, and PayTabs may also be available, depending on your country.
To check which payment processors are available to you:
- Go to Account > Settings > Payment Details.
- Click See all payment options
- Check the available payment gateways for your business location.
- Select your preferred payment processor and follow the instructions to connect it.
If you change your business location, the available payment gateways will update accordingly. If no additional options appear, it means there are no other supported payment gateways for that location.
You can find the complete list of payment gateways we support here.
Why can't I connect my payment gateway?
Depending on your payment provider, you may need to complete additional verification steps or meet certain requirements before connecting it to your Payhip account.
If you're having trouble connecting your payment gateway, we recommend checking your account status and any error messages displayed during the connection process.
Why is my payment method not showing up?
The payment methods available at checkout, such as Apple Pay or BLIK, depend on several factors, including your connected payment gateways and your customer's location.
- Recurring payments: Subscriptions and recurring payments can only be processed by card through Stripe.
- One-time payments: Customers can use the payment methods supported by your connected payment gateways.
- Local payment methods: If you've enabled local payment methods, their availability may depend on the customer's location, currency, and the payment provider's requirements.
If a particular payment method isn't appearing at checkout, we recommend checking its availability and eligibility requirements with your payment provider.
Why was my customer's payment declined?
Payhip does not process payments directly. All transactions are handled by the payment processors connected to your account.
If a customer's payment was declined, we recommend checking your payment processor's dashboard for any transaction logs, error messages, or notifications that might explain why the payment was unsuccessful.
If a payment method isn't showing at checkout, check with your payment provider to see whether it's supported for that customer.
In the meantime, you can also share our Resolve Payment Issues as a Buyer article with your customer for troubleshooting steps they can try if they're having difficulty completing their purchase.
Why is my payment processor account restricted?
If you're seeing a notification that your account is restricted, it usually refers to the payment processor connected to your Payhip account, not your Payhip account itself.
Payment processors such as PayPal and Stripe have their own verification requirements, security checks, and account policies.
For example, if your PayPal account has been restricted, you'll need to contact PayPal Support directly to understand the reason and find out how to resolve it. Similarly, if your Stripe account has been restricted, you should contact Stripe Support for further assistance.
We cannot remove restrictions imposed by third-party payment processors.
Does Payhip automatically localize currencies for customers?
We currently do not automatically change the displayed currency based on a customer's location. Your storefront and checkout will display prices in the currency you've selected for your store, regardless of where your customers are located.
For example, if your store currency is set to USD, customers visiting from the UK, Europe, or other countries will still see prices displayed in USD.
If a customer pays using a different currency, their bank or payment provider may handle the conversion and apply any applicable exchange rates or conversion fees.
How long does it take to receive my payouts?
When a customer makes a purchase, the funds are instantly credited to the payment processor connected to your Payhip account.
However, the time it takes for the funds to reach your bank account depends on the payment processor you've connected and its payout schedule.
Please note that we do not transfer payments directly to your bank account or other methods.
Where can I find my payout?
If you've connected multiple payment gateways, your earnings will be sent to whichever provider processed the customer's payment.
For example, if you have both PayPal and Stripe connected to your Payhip account, the payment processor used will depend on the customer's chosen payment method.
Your earnings will then be credited to the payment processor that handled the transaction:
- PayPal: Your earnings will appear in your PayPal account, where you can withdraw them to your bank.
- Stripe: Your earnings will be transferred to your bank according to your payout schedule in Stripe.
If you haven't received your funds or are experiencing payout delays, please refer to our Missing Payout or Payment article for further guidance.
Why does the fee appear higher than expected?
Payhip's standard transaction fees remain the same regardless of any applicable taxes. For example, if you're on Payhip's Free Forever plan, the transaction fee is 5% per sale.
However, you may occasionally notice that the total amount shown exceeds the standard transaction fee. This does not mean Payhip is charging a higher transaction fee. The additional amount represents applicable taxes collected and remitted on your behalf.
You can review the order details in your customer dashboard to better understand the charges associated with a particular transaction.
Please note that payment processors such as Stripe and PayPal may also charge their own processing fees, which are separate from Payhip's transaction fees.
