Stripe is a great way to accept payments online for selling digital products and one of the easiest payment gateways to set up with Payhip. With Stripe, you can also set up recurring payments for repeating services or subscriptions.

Which countries is Stripe available in?

Stripe is currently supported in over 40 countries including Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States.

What are the payment methods available on Stripe?

Stripe supports all major debit and credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and more. Availability of specific payment methods may vary by country, so certain options might not be offered in all supported locations.

Stripe fees - how much money does Stripe take per transaction?

The standard Stripe fee is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Fees may vary by country. For full details, please visit Stripe’s pricing page. Note that these fees are collected by Stripe and do not go to Payhip.

How to connect Stripe to your eCommerce store

To start selling online, make sure you’ve signed up for a free Payhip account. In your Payhip dashboard, go to AccountSettingsPayment Details. You’ll see a list of payment gateways available in your region, including Stripe (if it’s available to you). 

Click Connect and you’ll be redirected to Stripe to connect your account.

From the dropdown list, select which Stripe account you’d like to connect. If you haven’t already activated your account you’ll need to do that by filling in the form and completing the two-step authentication. Then click Authorize access to this account.

You’ll then be taken back to Payhip where you will see that your account has been successfully connected. That’s it! You’ve successfully integrated Stripe to your Payhip store.

If you don’t have a Stripe account yet

If you don’t have a Stripe account yet, click Connect, then click Signup for Stripe to create a new account for free.

Fill out your details, complete the two-step authentication and then click Authorize access to this account.

You’ll then be taken back to Payhip where you will see that your account has been successfully connected.

FAQ

How do I get my payouts from Stripe?

Payouts will be sent to your connected bank account on a daily basis by default. You can change the payout frequency to weekly, monthly, or manually initiated. See " Payout schedule" in this article: Receiving payouts for more details.

Note that if this is your first transaction via Stripe on Payhip, Stripe payments will stay as " pending" for a few days as you go through Stripe’s approval process. The length of this pending period depends on your location (see here). Once that period has passed, payouts will be sent to your connected bank account on a daily basis by default unless you change the payout frequency.

What will my customers see at checkouts?

Once your Stripe account is connected to Payhip, customers visiting your storefront will see the Buy with card option at checkout. They do not need to have a Stripe account to purchase, they can make payments with their preferred payment methods (debit card, credit cards, etc).
