Resolve Paystack Errors as a Seller

If you're using Paystack and your customers encounter an error when attempting to process a payment, it usually means there is an issue with the payment configuration, currency settings, or account setup.

In this article, we'll go through some of the most common Paystack errors and what they mean.

Understanding Paystack error messages

1. Currency code is not currently supported

This error typically appears when the currency used for the transaction is not supported by Paystack or by another payment gateway connected to your Payhip account. For example, if you have both PayPal and Paystack enabled, the currency selected for your store must be supported by both payment processors.

How to resolve: If you encounter this error, please review the currency set for your Payhip store in the Payment Details tab under Account Settings, and ensure it is supported by the payment gateways you currently have connected.

2. Currency not supported by merchant

This error means your Paystack account is not configured to accept payments in the selected currency. In other words, the currency you're trying to charge in is not currently enabled for that integration.

How to resolve: Please ensure the currency you selected for your Payhip account is enabled in your Paystack account. You may also need to review your current settings and ensure that international payments are enabled.

3. No active channel to process transaction

This error usually occurs when no active payment channels are enabled in your Paystack account. For example, card payments or other payment methods may not be enabled.

How to resolve: You will need to log in to your Paystack account and enable at least one payment method before transactions can be processed.

4. You're currently in test mode

This message appears when your Paystack account is still in test mode. While in test mode, real payments cannot be processed, and customers will see this error at checkout.

How to resolve: Make sure your Paystack account is set to live mode and that you are using the correct API keys. If you're unsure how to enable this, please contact Paystack support for assistance.

5. Invalid authorization key

This error means that the API key used to connect Paystack is invalid or not recognized.

This can happen if the key was copied incorrectly, if a test key is used instead of a live key, or if the API key was recently regenerated in the Paystack dashboard.

How to resolve: Please disconnect and then reconnect Paystack in your Payment Details tab under Account Settings, and follow the instructions to reconnect your Paystack account here: Connect your Paystack account.
