Create a Membership Site on Payhip

Are you looking to run a membership site through Payhip?

If so, we have two ways of doing this - membership products and product bundles.

Membership products give members access to their own dedicated portal where you make “posts”. Posts are pieces of content that come in the form of text, streamable video, images, links, polls, and content embedded from other websites.

Product bundles give you a way to offer access to other digital products listed on your store for a recurring (or one-off) payment.

Which product type should I use for my membership?

Whether you should use a membership or a bundle for your members depends on what will work best for them and you.

Generally, if you want to offer access to a group of products listed on your store, you should create a bundle.

In both cases, if the member cancels their subscription, they would automatically lose access to the included content.

However, membership products have some differences to bundles in terms of member and seller experience. For example, with memberships, you can:

  • Schedule content ahead of time
  • Automatically notify members about new content
  • Allow members to comment on your posts
  • Give access to different content depending on which pricing tier the member has signed up for

You can also attach downloadable files to membership posts (up to 2GB in size). So if you would like to offer a mixture of posts and digital downloads specifically, this could work for you.

On the other hand, product bundles allow you to sell digital downloads, courses, and even memberships as a package; enrolling subscribers in all included products using a single checkout flow.

You can offer other products listed on your store to subscribers of a membership product by giving them a 100% off coupon code. However, please note that this won’t be tied to their subscription so, if they cancel, they would still have access to these additional products.
