Google AdSense

Google AdSense is a platform that allows Google to place advertising on your website. In return, you receive money based on the number of views or clicks the ad receives. This can be an excellent way to make extra income.

In this article, we show you how to integrate Google AdSense with your Payhip store and further monetize your content.

Please note that Google AdSense likes you to have an ads.txt file, which we don't support right now. AdSense may still work, but you might get an error message about it.

Integrate Google AdSense

The first step is to sign up for a Google AdSense account.

The signup process will ask you for your website’s URL. It's important to note that the URL should be a top-level domain like “yourstore.com” rather than a subdomain like “www.yourstore.com”. Because of this, your store will need to be at a custom domain that is directed to the root domain. We have instructions for setting up a custom domain with various domain providers here (each article has specific instructions for connecting the root domain).

Once you’ve signed up with Google AdSense, you’ll land on a page that looks like this:

Click Let’s Go under “Connect your site to AdSense” and you’ll be given an AdSense code snippet. Here’s where to paste that in your Payhip store:

  1. Launch the store builder by going to Store in the top navigation bar, then clicking Launch Your Store Builder (or by clicking Account > Store Builder).
  2. Click Change store style at the bottom left of your screen.

  1. Click Advanced and find Header HTML/JS Code Injection.
  2. Paste in the AdSense code snippet or metatag.
  3. Publish your changes.

And that’s it! (Note that Google will review your site first to make sure that your content is appropriate.)
