Collaborations

Introduction

If you've teamed up with other creators to create a product then then our Collaborators feature is a great option. It will let you manage the product with collaborators and automatically pay them a portion of each sale.

Requirements

You and your collaborators must have a PayPal account connected to receive payments
You can add up to 4 collaborators per product
Your collaborators can have a minimum cut of 10% and a maximum cut of 90%
As the "primary creator" you will need to leave yourself at least a 10% cut
As the "primary creator" you will be responsible for the Payhip fee and also sales taxes on each sale - so adjust your cut accordingly. PayPal will charge you and each collaborator their usual transaction fee.
Collaborations are only supported for digital products at the moment

Add a collaborator

Create your product as you usually would
Click the Add new collaborator button on the Collaborators page
Type in the Payhip login email address of your collaborators Payhip account
Select the individual products which they will earn a commission for and how much their percentage cut is

Collaborators must have have a Payhip account created and their PayPal account connected before they can be invited.

If you select the "Show as co-creator" checkbox then we'll show a badge on the product sales page indicating who else is involved in creating the product.

You will also be able to choose which permissions to assign to the collaborator

Allowed to edit assigned products
Allowed administrative permissions such as resending email receipts, resetting download credits etc

The process for collaborators

When you've added someone as a collaborator we would send them an email giving them a heads up. They'll be shown which products they've been assigned as a collaborator for and their percentage cut.

An email notification will also be sent each time an edit is made to the collaboration and also when they've been removed as a collaborator.

By visiting the collabs dashboard page they'll be able to see all the products they've been associated with. If you've provided the edit permission to a collaborator then they'll be able to edit your products too by clicking the "Edit" button listed there.

What happens after a purchase?

Collaboration payments are processed through PayPal only at the moment. So when a purchase happens, you would get paid through PayPal in the usual way. Roughly 10 minutes after you have been paid, your collaborator will also have a payment sent to their PayPal account for their commission amount.

Note: It may take up to 24 hours to approve the collaborators first payment. Future payments will be paid instantly.
