GoDaddy


You can connect a domain purchased through GoDaddy to your Payhip store by updating a few DNS records in your GoDaddy account.

What are root domains and subdomains?

A root domain is what you purchase when you buy a domain. An example of a root domain is  kingsandgenerals.net

A subdomain is an addition to the root domain. For example: shop.kingsandgenerals.net

Instructions

Follow the steps below for the type of domain you'd like to connect.

Show instructions for connecting root domain
  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account and go to your Domain Portfolio.
  2. Select the domain you want to connect to open the Domain Settings page.
  3. Click the DNS tab to view your DNS records.
  4. Find the A record with the name @, select Edit, and change the Value to: 45.154.183.183
  5. Then find the CNAME record with the name www, select Edit, and change the Value to: domains.payhip.com
  6. If both the A record and the CNAME record don't already exist, select Add New Record using the details above.
  7. Click Save to confirm your changes. If you've added or edited multiple records, click Save All Records instead.
  8. Login to your Payhip account and go to your domains page.
  9. Click Connect Existing Domain, enter your domain name, and click Continue.
  10. Finally, click Verify Connection. That's it!

By the way, make sure to remove any AAAA records and ensure you have only one A record and one CNAME record configured as shown above. 

Now we wait! It can take up to 24-48 hours for DNS changes to fully update. If it's still not working after that, you should contact GoDaddy to help you figure out why.

Show instructions for connecting subdomain
  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account and go to your Domain Portfolio.
  2. Select the domain you want to connect to open the Domain Settings page.
  3. Click the DNS tab to view your DNS records.
  4. Click Add New Record and select CNAME as the record type.
  5. In the Name field, enter the subdomain you want to use. For example, if you want to use shop.yourdomain.com, enter shop.
  6. In the Value field, enter: domains.payhip.com
  7. Click Save to confirm your changes.
  8. Login to your Payhip account and go to your domains page.
  9. Click Connect Existing Domain, enter your domain name, and click Continue.
  10. Finally, click Verify Connection. That's it!

Now we wait. It can take up to 24-48 hours for domain changes to update.

If it’s still not working after that, you should contact GoDaddy to help you figure out why.
